When is the right time to get assistance and plan long-term care for your Senior Loved One?! So many of us ask this question.
Well, as I spoke of previously in my first blog “Don’t Wait for a Crisis to Happen,” be aware, make a plan. If a crisis happens first, your choices for long-term care are narrowed significantly. So, what are some of the signs, red flags, concerns, worries… ? Be aware of the little things that start happening:
Has your loved one started to:
- forget appointments, pay bills.
- forget eating at least three meals a day.
- leave the stove or iron on.
- forget to take their medications.
- fall more frequently.
These are just a few things, the list goes on and on. Every one of us has individualized cares and needs. The key is to be AWARE of changes in behaviors and daily patterns. If something triggers a worry in you as their child or caregiver, then reach out and ask for advise or assistance. There are so many wonderful long-term care resources out there for us to grab hold of. We, the children or caregivers need to reach out to others, it is a very overwhelming period in our lives.
